SHEC Partnerships
Building Western Arizona’s healthcare workforce takes a community effort.
Strong partnerships are at the heart of everything we do at SHEC. Our primary partners include academic institutions; community organizations; healthcare, social service, and public health agencies; and other groups dedicated to improving health outcomes for our region’s residents. Together, we’re making a lasting impact.

Socios académicos
SHEC collaborates with our academic partners to help recruit and train our next generation of future healthcare professionals in our community.
The AHEC Scholars Program (ASP) offers a comprehensive two-year Interprofessional Education Program designed to address healthcare needs in rural and underserved communities. Participants work closely with dedicated faculty mentors and their assigned AHEC Regional Center throughout an integrated curriculum that combines classroom learning with hands-on community experiences. The program emphasizes social determinants of health and critical issues in healthcare delivery and public health practice.
Established by the Arizona Legislature in 1997, the Arizona Rural Health Professions Program (RHPP) operates under the support of Arizona AHEC to tackle healthcare workforce shortages across the state’s rural areas. The program creates valuable rural training opportunities for health professions students enrolled at the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and Northern Arizona University, preparing them to serve underserved communities effectively.
