Biografía

Gustavo Ortega, M.D. earned his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, VA. He completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY and pursued a fellowship in Bariatric Surgery at Orlando Health in Orlando, FL.

Dr. Ortega’s care philosophy is rooted in collaboration and education. “My commitment is to partner with my patients, providing comprehensive education, support, and surgical expertise to ensure safe, effective, and sustainable outcomes. It is my goal to empower patients to achieve lasting health.”

His clinical interests include sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, SADI-S and duodenal switch.

When he is not taking care of patients, Dr. Ortega spends time with his wife, two kids and dogs and is a diehard Miami Hurricanes fan.
