Onvida Health is proud to celebrate Dr. Abhinav Chandra, recipient of the Visionary Leadership Award, for his outstanding contributions to cancer care in Yuma County. Since joining Onvida Health in 2016, Dr. Chandra has led the transformation of cancer care, expanding innovative treatments while prioritizing the mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of patients. Under his leadership, our Cancer and Blood Disorders Center has introduced numerous advancements, from clinical trials and genetic cancer screening to free dietary and wellness support, ensuring many of these services benefit not just our patients, but the entire community.
Dr. Chandra’s leadership has led to remarkable milestones, including:
- Yuma County achieving one of the lowest cancer mortality rates in Arizona (2023).
- Expanding diversity in clinical trials, ensuring greater access to cutting-edge treatments (2023).
- Onvida Health winning the ACCC Innovator Award for implementing genetic cancer screening and testing (2019).
- National recognition by the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) as one of three cancer centers sharing best practices in multiple myeloma treatment (2018).
- Since 2016, the cancer program has published more than 30 peer reviewed publications, and more than 20 presentations at national and international conferences and has garnered more than 2,000 citations, also receiving the “Best Publication Award” for MDPI’s Cancers 2020 Best Paper Awards.
