On Miércoles, Marzo 11, Onvida Health employees gave thanks to the Foothills Cruisers Car Club during their annual teddy bear donation. The car club dropped off 1,200 teddy bears to Onvida Health staff as the bears rode in style in a parade of classic cars. This marked the 10th year and nearly 12,500 bears the Foothills Cruisers Car Club had delivered to Onvida Health since 2016!
“For more than a decade, this annual delivery has touched our hearts. Our staff looks forward to welcoming the Foothills Car Club every year — it has truly become a tradition that we cherish,” said Dorie Rush, Administrative Director of Labor & Delivery at Onvida Health. “What means the most is knowing that these gifts bring comfort to patients and families during some of their most difficult moments, whether in the emergency room or during a stay at the hospital. We are deeply grateful for the Foothills Cruisers Car Club and their unwavering generosity.”
Teddy bears were purchased by the Foothills Cruisers Car Club following their annual car show, where they collected car entry fees. All proceeds went toward purchasing new bears to distribute to healthcare organizations throughout the community. The idea was inspired by Foothills Cruisers member Richard Craig after his granddaughter was hospitalized about a decade ago.
“As a retired nurse, I’ve cared for many children during some of their most vulnerable moments, and I’ve seen how a soft, cuddly teddy bear can instantly bring comfort to a child who is scared or hurting,” said Doris Casey, spokesperson for the Foothills Cruisers Car Club. “When a child is facing an emergency room visit or a hospital stay, even the smallest gesture can make a big difference. This is one reason this campaign means so much to us.”
We hope you were able to join us for this generous donation event and share this positive news with our community!
