Investing in Our Physicians, Investing in Our Community

Physician wellbeing has a direct impact on quality, safety, and accessibility of care. By prioritizing the health of our medical professionals, Onvida Health is strengthening the entire healthcare ecosystem in Yuma County. This recognition not only reflects our internal culture, but our broader commitment to building a healthier tomorrow for our community.

Highlights of Onvida Health’s Approach:

  • Assessment: Onvida utilizes the Well-Being Index, enabling physicians to monitor their wellbeing confidentially while guiding leadership to take targeted, data-informed actions to reduce organizational distress.
  • Commitment: Physician wellbeing is a strategic priority. Through a dedicated role, Onvida tracks the cost of burnout and presents outcomes to the Executive Leadership Team, ensuring that support efforts are impactful and sustained.
  • Efficiency of Practice: Led by Dr. Frederick Chang and his team, workflow enhancements are actively reducing inefficiencies and allowing physicians to spend more time focused on patient care.
  • Leadership Engagement: Through a structured listening campaign, physician leaders are given space to voice concerns— “pebbles in their shoes”—which are addressed in collaboration with stakeholders like Medical Group leadership.
  • Support Systems: Onvida’s growing Peer Support program allows physicians to speak confidentially with a trained colleague, connecting them with resources to ensure emotional and professional resilience.

“This is more than an internal achievement—it’s a win for the entire Yuma County community,” said Dr. Diaz, President of Onvida Health Medical Group. “Healthy physicians are the heart of a healthy community. This recognition is a step forward in ensuring that everyone in our region receives the care they need from providers who feel supported and valued.”
