The exceptional faculty members that lead our Family & Community Medicine Residency program share a passion for teaching and clinical education. They mentor and guide our residents to provide them with a comprehensive education and the tools they need to practice family medicine.
Kristina Diaz, M.D.
Designated Institutional Official
Returning to Yuma after completing her education and residency has been a wonderful experience for Kristina Diaz, M.D. A graduate of Yuma High School, she went on to earn her undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona and her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center and was appointed chief resident of her class.
Dr. Diaz enjoys caring for the entire family, but her true passion is caring for women and children. As a faculty member for our residency program, she precepts in all areas of our medical specialty. She enjoys traveling, reading, quilting and spending time with her family.
Navaneeth Kumar, M.D.
Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program and Vice President of Primary Care Services
Navaneeth Kumar, M.D., serves as the Vice President and Clinical Chair of Primary Care at Onvida Health Medical Group, part of Onvida Health. In addition to his leadership roles, Dr. Kumar is the Program Director of the Family & Community Medicine residency program, where he plays a pivotal role in training future healthcare professionals. His commitment to delivering high-quality patient care is reflected in his daily practice. He is double board certified in Family Medicine and Clinical Informatics. With a fellowship in Integrative Medicine, Dr. Kumar provides patients with a comprehensive, holistic approach to their health.
Dr. Kumar earned his medical degree from Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India, completed a Preliminary Surgery residency at the University of Arizona, Tucson, and later completed a Family and Community Medicine residency at YRMC. Outside of work, Dr. Kumar enjoys reading, watching movies and TV shows, playing tennis and cricket, and riding motorcycles.
Ryan Zerr, D.O.
Sports Medicine Fellowship Program Director
Ryan Zerr, M.D., joined the Onvida Health’s Family Medicine Center faculty to direct the Sports Medicine fellowship. In addition to treating patients for athletic injuries, he serves as the mentor to our non-operative sports medicine fellows. Dr. Zerr earned his medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, MO. He completed his family medicine residency at Phoenix Baptist Hospital in Phoenix, AZ and his sports medicine fellowship at the University of Nevada, Reno. He is board certified in family medicine with a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine.
Dr. Zerr likes spending time with his family and watching them participate in athletic, school and community events. He also enjoys weight lifting, travel and smoking meats like ribs and pulled pork.
Eyuel Terefe, M.D.
Psychiatry Residency Program Director
Eyuel Terefe, M.D. moved to Yuma to help start the psychiatry residency program, serving as the program’s first program director. Dr. Terefe received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma, College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, OK. He then completed his psychiatry residency in Tyler, Texas from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler.
When Dr. Terefe is not practicing medicine, he enjoys playing sports, listening to podcasts, going on nature walks, and spending time with family.
N. Ogechi Abara, M.D.
Assistant Program Director
N. Ogechi Abara, M.D., is a family medicine physician with a love for teaching and community engagement, as well as a special interest in marginalized communities and the care of older adults. Her experiences provide her a good understanding of integrative medicine, which she uses in treating patients with holistic, nurturing and clinically sound medical care.
Dr. Abara attended medical school at Ross University School of Medicine in Bridgetown, Barbados. She completed her family medicine residency and geriatric medicine fellowship at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in Galveston, TX.
When she is not practicing medicine, Dr. Abara enjoys working out, running, swimming, listening to music, playing the piano, singing and writing poetry.
Nada Alsaiegh, M.D., M.P.H.
Assistant Program Director and Family Medicine Center Medical Director
Nada Alsaiegh, M.D. was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq and moved to the U.S. while in high school. She earned her Master’s degree in Public Health at St. George’s University School of Public Health in Grenada and her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. Following medical school, she held a position as a clinical research associate at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center and most recently graduated from Onvida Health Family Medicine Residency Program. Upon graduation, Dr. Alsaigh joined the Family Medicine Residency Program as a faculty member. Dr. Alsaiegh sees patients at the Family Medicine Center, and also serves as Medical Student Clerkship Director.
Dr. Alsaiegh believes her vast life and educational experiences have prepared her well for her career in family medicine. In the future, Nada plans to spend some of her free time offering international, humanitarian medical services to the underserved. She is fluent in both English and Arabic.
Steven Anderson, M.D.
Faculty
After being in private practice in Yuma for 30 years, Steven Anderson, M.D., joined Onvida Health’s Family Medicine Center as a faculty member of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) program. Dr. Anderson received his medical degree from the University of Alabama and completed his residency in Family Medicine at Florida Hospital in Orlando and Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tennessee. Dr. Anderson is fluent in Spanish and French. In his free time, he enjoys golf, bicycling, fishing and family activities.
Matthew Bishop, M.D.
Assistant Program Director
Matthew Bishop, M.D., is a family medicine physician that strives to promote health literacy and health empowerment. He prioritizes personal choice and adapting the care plan to the patient’s culture. He holds particular interests in integrative medicine and global health. Born and raised in San Diego, California, he attended medical school at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica. He completed family medicine residency at Onvida Health Family and Community Medicine Residency and, upon graduation, joined as a faculty member. While not practicing medicine, Dr. Bishop enjoys cooking, camping, hiking, and traveling with his wife and children.
Tomasz Fudalewski, M.D.
Core Faculty
Tomasz Fudalewski, M.D., was in born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and grew up in Toronto. He completed an undergraduate degree in kinesiology and health sciences and subsequently completed a master’s degree with a focus on cardiovascular physiology at York University in Toronto Canada. He pursued medical education in Europe studying at The Poznan University of Medical sciences in Poland. Dr. Fudalewski completed his family and community medicine residency at Onvida Health. In his final year of his residency training, he also completed a fellowship in academic medicine.
Upon graduation, Dr. Fudalewski joined the Family and Community Medicine Residency Program as a faculty member. He practices at Onvida Health Family Medicine W. 24th Street Plaza. He is proud to call Yuma home. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and his interests include playing musical instruments, history, cooking, martial arts and all things comedy.
George Reusser, M.D.
Core Faculty
George Reusser, M.D., a family medicine physician, has special interests in adult medicine and preventative health. He graduated from the Saint James School of Medicine in Anguilla. He completed his family medicine residency at Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV.
Dr. Reusser enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball, reading and trying new things.
Alfonso Téllez II, M.D.
Core Faculty, Family Medicine/Sports Medicine
Alfonso Téllez II, M.D., was born in Tucson, AZ and grew up in Yuma. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona. He completed his family and community medicine residency and sports medicine fellowship at Onvida Health. He feels deep satisfaction from his work in the community to promote health education and help the underserved.
In his free time, Dr. Téllez enjoys cycling, soccer, hiking, movies, cooking and planning trips to new places.
Stephen Gipson, D.O.
Core Faculty, Family Medicine/ Sports Medicine
Born in Kansas City, Stephen Gipson, M.D., spent his formative years in the midwest. He earned his medical degree from A.T. Stills Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his family medicine residency with the Creighton University Arizona Alliance Family Medicine Residency Program in Phoenix, AZ. During his residency, he assisted with the development of both a sports medicine and a point-of-care ultrasound curriculum. In addition to family medicine training, he enjoyed participating in sideline event coverage as well as urgent care employment as a moonlighter.
Dr. Gipson’s personal interests include traveling, hiking, playing with his dog, attending sporting events, water sports and trail running.
Olufunso Adeniran, M.D.
Core Faculty
Olufunso Adeniran, M.D., earned her medical degree from St. George’s University, School of Medicine in St. George’s, Grenada and completed her family medicine residency at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH.
In her free time, Dr. Adeniran enjoys plant-based cooking, exercising, reading and spending time with family.
Kaitlyn Walter, M.D.
Core Faculty
Kaitlyn Walter, M.D., is a family medicine physician. Born and raised in Arizona, she completed a B.S. in biological sciences at the University of California, Irvine and then graduated with a medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica. Upon completing her Family & Community Medicine Residency here in Yuma at the Onvida Health program in 2025, she joined as a core faculty member. She has a strong interest in women’s health, preventative healthcare and patient advocacy. Her main goal as a physician is to help patients feel empowered in their healthcare decisions by providing a safe environment and evidence-based medical advice.
When not seeing patients, she enjoys paddle boarding on the Colorado river, playing along to Jeopardy!, hiking, crocheting and spending time with her husband and cats.
Serge Samaha, M.D.
Core Faculty
Serge Samaha, M.D. is an internal medicine physician with a subspecialty in geriatric medicine. Born and raised in Lebanon, Dr. Samaha earned his medical degree from the University of Balamand Faculty of Medicine in 2019. Before moving to the United States, he spent two years providing compassionate care to the Lebanese community. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, followed by a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Samaha has a deep passion for medical education and is dedicated to helping the next generation of physicians appreciate and apply geriatric care principles across all stages of medical training. He moved to Yuma after recognizing the great potential to serve and care for the region’s diverse and growing community.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Samaha enjoys viniculture and wine tasting and looks forward to exploring potential viticulture opportunities in the Yuma area.
Veerauo Konkankit, M.D.
Assistant Program Director
Veerauo Konkankit, M.D., was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She earned her bachelor of biological sciences degree from UC Irvine in Irvine, California, pursued a master of physiological science from UCLA in Los Angeles, California, and finally a medical doctorate from Saint James School of Medicine in Anguilla. Dr. Konkankit’s areas of clinical interest include ambulatory and hospital medicine, lifestyle and integrative medicine, community medicine and sports medicine.
She is a strong advocate for her patients and believes in the importance of working together with patients as a team.
