Onvida Health is pleased to announce that Pilkington Construction Company will serve as the general contractor for the new San Luis Campus, with architectural design led by Grace Design Studios. This marks an important milestone in expanding healthcare access in South County.

As a Yuma-based company since 1985, Pilkington Construction’s commitment extends beyond the jobsite, with a focus on leaving a lasting, positive impact for the community as a whole. Choosing Pilkington as the general contractor brings significant value to this project, helping to keep construction dollars circulating within the local economy. It’s a decision that supports not just local subcontractors and tradespeople, but also the families and small businesses right here at home, making them the best choice for the job, and our community.

“We’re proud to partner with Pilkington Construction on this meaningful next chapter for San Luis,” said Dr. Robert Trenschel, President & CEO of Onvida Health. “Their local expertise and deep-rooted commitment to community make them an ideal partner in bringing compassionate, comprehensive care closer to home. Together, we’re building a healthier future for South County.”

The new San Luis Medical Center is set to open in early 2027. It will feature a state-of-the-art hospital with inpatient and outpatient observation beds, an emergency department, operating and recovery rooms, advanced imaging, and access to specialty care. Once complete, the campus will connect south county residents with more than 350 physicians and specialists, providing a wide range of healthcare services close to home.

“We’re honored to help bring this new campus to life for the San Luis community,” said Clint Harrington, President of Pilkington Construction. “Our dedication to Yuma County is centered on the belief that when we build here, we are not only constructing facilities but also helping shape a stronger, more resilient future for generations to come. We’re proud to partner with Onvida Health on a project that supports San Luis families and improves access to care.”

Onvida Health’s Rooted in the Community pillar guides its approach to healthcare investments. From the Blessing of the Ground ceremony to plans for expanded services, the San Luis Campus reflects the organization’s commitment to serving the unique needs of the region.
