When you’re not feeling well or face a sudden injury, deciding where to seek care can be confusing. Knowing the difference between an Emergency Department (ED) and a walk-in clinic can help you get the right care quickly and avoid unnecessary delays or costs.
When To Go To The ED
Onvida Health Emergency Care teams include board-certified providers who coordinate your care needs with case management, respiratory therapy, radiology and pharmacy. We provide this coordinated care across our two emergency departments (Emergency Yuma Medical Center and Emergency Foothills Medical Plaza) to ensure you have access to the right treatment in a caring and timely manner. Go to the ED immediately if you experience:
- Head injuries
- Serious burns and cuts
- Chest pain
- Severe abdominal pain
- Intoxication, overdose or attempted suicide
- Sudden, very severe headache or loss of vision (possible sign of stroke)
When To Visit The Walk-In Clinic
Onvida Health’s Walk-In Clinic Foothills offers fast, convenient access to medical care. Walk-in clinics are ideal for non-life-threatening conditions that still need timely attention. Consider a walk-in visit or book a same-day walk-in appointment (when available) for concerns such as:
- Sprains, strains or a possible broken bone
- Sore throats and coughs
- Allergies
- Ear infections
- Minor burns, cuts and injuries
- Workman’s comp
Knowing where to go can make a real difference in your care experience. When in doubt about the severity of your symptoms, it’s always safest to call your healthcare provider or dial emergency services.
