Play an important role in serving our hospital community.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of Onvida Health, inspired by the spark that drives us to build a healthier tomorrow. You play a crucial role in positively impacting patients, staff and the community. Our volunteers come from all backgrounds—high school students, retirees, former patients and employees—but they all share a common goal: to give back and connect with others.
Together, our volunteers contribute thousands of hours each year. To help us provide the best service to our patients and visitors, we ask that volunteers commit to at least four hours a week. If that doesn’t fit your schedule, no worries—just ask about special projects or flexible assignments.
We truly appreciate the value volunteers bring, so we take the time to match you with opportunities that you’ll find rewarding. No matter your interests or skills, there’s a place for you here. We have positions available in the mornings, afternoons and evenings, seven days a week, including these various opportunities.
- Working as an office assistant
- Offering support on one of our patient units
- Assisting with a blood drive
- Providing patient services, such as a book cart or beverage cart
- Working in the Corner Stork café and gift shop
- Assembling flower arrangements for patients
- Staffing an information desk
- Driving a courtesy cart
- Offering support and resources at the Cancer Resource Center
Volunteering with us comes with some great perks. You’ll get to enjoy annual service awards, fun celebrations for the holidays and Volunteer Week, plus discounts on educational programs and at the cafeteria, café or gift shop.
We also offer free annual flu shots, TB testing, the hepatitis B vaccine and immunity testing for rubella, measles and chickenpox. If you volunteer for more than six months and are in good standing, you can snag letters of recommendation, take part in our healthcare career camp and even shadow experienced professionals. Plus, there are scholarship opportunities and more!

Programs and Scholarships
Mentor Me M.D. Program
Mentor Me M.D. is an opportunity for young adults to be exposed to exciting healthcare career opportunities. The purpose of the program is to promote healthcare careers in our young population and mentor a group of students by showing them aspects of the medical field – giving them opportunities for direct contact with medical professionals, patients and clinical staff – all of this while learning about professional development to help them obtain their career goals. By participating in special programs such as flu shot clinics and sports coverage, the mentees can give back to the Onvida community. Additionally, those applicants within the program will have the unique opportunity to be assigned to a family medicine resident and gain the much-needed support, feedback and guidance that can be derived from a mentor/mentee relationship. By witnessing first-hand the work and sacrifices that our Onvida Health family medicine residents undertook to get where they are today, we hope to inspire a new generation of doctors and other healthcare providers. In short, our mentors will benefit from an opportunity to influence the next generation positively, obtain new insights and perspectives, grow as a mentor, and attain recognition for mentorship excellence. Mentees will benefit from personalized access to a knowledgeable colleague in a non-threatening environment that includes reassurance and support, strategic career planning, and skill development as a route to achieving improved self-confidence, professional growth, and career success.
