Overview
A tiny parasite found around the world causes giardia infection. The most common way to become infected is to swallow tainted water.
Symptoms
Symptoms of giardia infection can include stomach cramps, bloating, upset stomach, tiredness, weight loss, gas and watery loose stools. Some people infected with giardia never get symptoms.
Treatments
Antibiotic medicines can treat giardia infection that causes bad symptoms or lasts a long time. Often people get better on their own without treatment.
